You studied Japanese. Where do you use it?
日本語を勉強した。さて、どこで使う？
Among foreign residents in Japan who are studying Japanese right now, the top three problems are mostly what you would expect.
Classes cost too much, 16.6%.
There is no free class nearby, 16.4%.
The third is different. There is nowhere to use what they have learned, 13.3%. It moved up from fourth place the year before, and it is the only one of the three that has nothing to do with the classes themselves.
The same Immigration Services Agency survey asked about joining things. 47.7% said they would like to take part in some kind of activity where they live. The biggest thing stopping them was not time and not money. It was not knowing what was going on, 21.2%.
So people are studying, they want to join something, and they cannot find where.
That is what our meetup in Fukuoka is for. People come to use the Japanese or English they already have, and getting it wrong is normal there.

同じ出入国在留管理庁の調査では、地域の活動への参加についても聞いています。47.7%が、住んでいる地域で何らかの活動に参加したいと答えました。それを妨げている一番の理由は、時間でもお金でもありませんでした。どんな活動が行われているか知らない、21.2%です。
学んでいて、何かに参加したいのに、その場所が見つからない。
福岡でやっているミートアップは、まさにそのための場所です。すでに持っている日本語や英語を使いに来る場所で、うまく話せなくて当たり前です。
