What this test is

Keigo is the part of Japanese that stays difficult the longest. Knowing the words is not enough, because the right form depends on who you are speaking to and whether they are inside or outside your company. The questions are built around those judgements.

Questions are split between keigo fundamentals and practical business email. Results are scored across four categories (respectful, humble, polite/beautifying, and situational appropriateness) so you know exactly what to review.

Questions people ask

Can I take this in English?

No. The answers are Japanese expressions themselves, so this test is only offered in Japanese. If you want a diagnostic you can take in English, try the Japanese culture or business culture assessments.

Can I take it if I have not studied keigo yet?

Yes, start with the beginner level. It focuses on basic respectful and humble forms and standard email structure, which makes it a good way to see how much you already know.

Is the test free?

There is a free sample you can take right away with no payment. The full test for each level is paid, and it includes the full question review and the shareable result.

Do I need to know my level before I start?

No. Pick the level closest to where you think you are. If it turns out to be too easy or too hard, the result will tell you, and you can take a different level next.

Can I take it on my phone?

Yes. It works in a phone browser.

What if I run out of time?

Each section has its own timer. When the timer ends the section closes and your answers so far are kept.
