N4 and N5, and working in Japan

N4やN5で、日本で働く

Do you think your Japanese is not good enough to work in Japan? That is not true.

I know people working here at N4 and N5. Some of them are in Fukuoka, and they are people I know directly.

Companies do ask for a high level, and there is a reason for it. They want the best person from the start, so the language line in the posting works as a filter.

A filter is not a rule. People at N4 and N5 do reach the interview, show what they can actually do in Japanese rather than what the certificate says, and get hired.

The number on the document is not the thing. Being able to prove it yourself is the thing.

So the real question is how you get to the interview at all.

One person I know flew from the United States to the Tokyo Game Show and brought a collection they had made. People liked it, and they were given that meeting directly.

Others go to networking events and build that room themselves.

That is the whole answer. If you do not move, nothing starts.

That is how I have done everything. Going to America. Starting YouTube. Starting my own business. Starting LinkedIn. Starting the meetup. When I decide on something, I move on it.

So before you worry about your level, go and make more chances.
