Trying something you've never done before is scary. Working in Japan. Learning Japanese. Hiring talent from overseas.

All of it can feel like stepping into the unknown. I get it.

But here's how I personally approach those moments.

I don't ask myself "Can I do this?" I already know “I can do this” and then I get into it.

When I flew to the US at 17, I had zero English, no experience living abroad. But I knew I could figure it out. 17 years later, I didn't just survive. I thrived.

When I started YouTube, I had zero subscribers. Today, across two channels, I have over 100,000 subs.

When I started training to dunk, I could barely touch a net. Today, I'm grabbing a rim with both hands.

When I organized my first event in Japan (which is something I had never done before), about 25 people from around the world showed up and yes, it was a success.

When I started LinkedIn just a few months ago from zero, I kept showing up, kept sharing my perspectives.

Today I already have 3,600 followers and growing.

The common thread in all of it?

Not "I think I can." But instead “I know I can.”

未経験のことに挑戦するのは怖いものです。日本で働くこと。日本語を学ぶこと。海外から人材を採用すること。

これら全てが、未知の領域に踏み出すように感じられるかもしれませんね。その気持ち、よく分かります。

でも、私が個人的にそうした瞬間にどう向き合っているかをお伝えしましょう。

私は自分に「これ、できるかな？」とは問いかけません。もう「できる」と分かっているので、あとは実践するだけです。

17歳でアメリカへ渡った時、英語力はゼロ、海外での生活経験もありませんでした。それでも、何とかやり遂げられると確信していました。17年後、私はただ生き残っただけでなく、大いに成長を遂げたのです。

YouTubeを始めた当初は登録者数ゼロでした。しかし今では、2つのチャンネル合わせて10万人以上の登録者がいます。

ダンクの練習を始めた頃は、やっとネットに触れる程度でしたが、今では両手でリムを掴めるまでになりました。

日本で初めてイベントを企画した時（これも全く未経験のことでしたが）、世界中から約25名が参加してくれて、無事成功を収めることができました。

ほんの数ヶ月前、ゼロからLinkedInを始めた際も、私はひたすら投稿を続け、自分の視点を発信し続けました。

今日ではすでに3,600人以上のフォロワーがおり、その数は増え続けています。

これら全てに共通する点は何かというと？

それは「できると思う」ではなく、「できると知っている」ということです。
